I am not a lover of the “mall”. The lighting, the heavy cloak of sweaty consumerism and raging teenage hormones are all a bit much for me. Honestly, I get mall rage. I just want to buy my stuff and get out as quickly as possible; meanwhile praying that I can remember where I parked my car.
But I may have to change my opinion on this matter and no longer lump all malls together because they are not created equal! Today I am on the main stage at Crossroads Mall Bellevue with guitarist Vince Brown and I am all a squee! Yes, it is a word, it is the sound one makes when there is the promise of ice cream or chocolate cake that was totally unexpected and perhaps undeserved.
Crossroads is probably small by most mall standards but it’s mighty in what it houses. There are stores of interest, yes, and the people watching is diverse and delightful; but the international food court, public spaces for gaming and public library are what is happifying for me. It feels more like a community center. A really, really cool community center!
Check it out, if you haven’t already.
Anyhoo, that is where I am off to today. I am already dreaming about what I am going to have for lunch!
Be well friend.
PS. If you haven’t liked me on Facebook, would you mind visiting LaVon Hardison and liking?
