Zowie, things have been a’ hoppin on the Hardison front. Last weekend, Red & Ruby (Vince Brown and myself) had an Oregon mini-tour that took us to Hood River, Gresham, and Mcmenamim’s Edgefield in Troutdale. The house concerts in Hood River and Gresham were lovely opportunities to connect with old friend Ben Bonham and meet new friends Charlie and Zephyr of Sisyphus Farms. All of these folks are enormously talented musicians and performers and being in their presence was not only inspiring but just made a body feel good. Violinist Eddie Parente sat in at the Sisyphus Farms house concert — my, my, my that man knows how to play that violin!
And that my friend is not a euphemism: he really plays beautifully! I hope our musical paths cross again soon! We ended our little tour at McMennamims in the Winery. Whirlwind? Indeed, but most satisfying. Thanks to our hosts and for all who came to the shows!
June and most of July I will be doing music of a different stripe. I will be part of Harlequin Production’s summer show “60’s Chicks Too” here at the State Theater in Olympia. It is a musical revue of 60’s girl group including the music of the Shirelles, Lesley Gore, Ronettes, Laura Nyro, and many more. Tickets are available from Harlequin. Call 360-786-0151 for more information.
